90,000 people screaming for you and singing the cheers that we began with the hit of a drum or the sounds of the low brass or whole band playing. it was AMAZING, definitely not like anything i had ever experienced before. I've never seen SO MUCH school spirit or excitement in one confined place before, and i must say that standing in the dark tunnel moments before walking out onto the field to perform pre-game was such a rush and VERY scary. All you could hear were the screaming of the fans and the announcer's voice saying "Anndddd now, let's welcome to the field the Pride of the Sunshine Gator Fighting Marching Band!!!" followed by the crowd going WILD.
and i was on TV!!! on espn this morning WOOO! they caught me on camera off to the side while Urban Meyer was doing an interview and it was cool :P And i get to do the same thing over again 8 more times :]
I love college & UF & football games & college band.
So yesterday Stacey, Carling and i were on the first floor of my dorm waiting for the elevator because we're lazy asses and hate climbing stairs, and this boy walks in to wait for the elevator too and kind of leans back and widens his eyes before saying (and this is not a joke) "Did i just walk into HEAVEN?!" immediately followed by him shaking his head and going "wow that was lame wasnt it, i need to stop listening to my brother when he tells me pick up lines..."
I burst out laughing, carling and stacey kind of just stood there not knowing what to say, and the elevator ride was a little bit awkward after that.
After buying three fish at Petsmart a few nights ago, i began a bad luck streak with pets - my tally fish Chip died yesterday and my catfish Dimitri died today! :[ stacey's beta fish Ursela died yesterday too so we went to Petsmart today after my practice and got refunds for our fish and the nasty food that im pretty sure killed my fish, and i actually ended up getting a goldfish named Wiggles (ASK ME ABOUT MY WEINERRRRR! hahaha. its a joke.) and a snail named Dimitri II (part deux.) AND water conditioner and a new thing of food for cheaper than the fish and food i returned so i actually ended up getting money back :] YAY! so theyre now happily swimming around in the tank with Belle, the still existent tally fish.
Tomorrow = lots of plans! 11:45 class, 12:50 class, poster sale at the reitz, music building to get my uniform, bank, GTI bookstore, O&B Textbooks, going with Carling to get her hair cut, and then GATOR FEST at the O'Connel Center at 7! everyone should go :]
Ho hum.... so im bored, and decided to write an entry but i have NO idea what to update on besides the fact that i've been doing band for the entire week almost every day. So to countdown to the first football game:
Saturday camp Sunday camp Monday Camp Tuesday camp Thursday practice Friday practice Saturday camp Tuesday practice Thursday practice Friday Practice Saturday morning practice GAME! :]
What else? OHHH!! i got a snail :D hes really cute and his name is Sebastian and he lives in carling's fish tank with Skuttle and Flounder the goldfish and next to Ursela the beta fish. i'll get a picture of him soon!
Party tonight at some of the trumpet player's apartment! more later <3
So i figured i should talk about whats been going on with me since ive been in gainesville since i havent updated! There's only one thing that's taking over my life right now: MARCHINGBAND! it's alot of fun even though we've practiced every day since saturday night from 8-11am on the field, 1-4pm sectionals, and 6-9:30pm on the field in the heattt. It's more of a "lets have fun" kind of thing where high school marching was really strict and for competition, and the people here are really fun :] today when when we were walking back from practice there was a gator in the small pond by the commuter lot and everyone started yelling GO GATORSSS. crazy people.
classes start TOMORROW! im pretty excited :] american history (i dropped that and added Man's Food instead haha), comparative politics and russian tomorrow grjgdhefhhgshjhkuuysgj.
And no, i'm not talking alcohol, crack, weed, heroine, or any of the other addictions that people usually have problems with.
MY addiction? i can't stop buying dvds. Yeah, it sounds funny, but it's a serious problem and i just cant help it! It's those damn sales at blockbuster, you know the 3 or 4 for $20? those get me everryyy time. I think im up to about 15 new dvds in the past few months?
It's getting worse and worse, and needs to be stopped.
On to a different topic, my parents told my brother and i that theyre going to England in September. im SO jealous! my favorite place in the world, and they get to go again :[ im happy for them, and i know theyll have fun, but i really dont think i can wait to go again. my mom said all i have to do is start figuring out details for my study abroad and ill hopefully get it planned for this coming summer, so england here i come :] its just figuring out which part i want to go to, what classes i want to take, and when to go! my preference would be the whole summer, but i guess i'll have to take what i can get! :]
I really wish i could write more intellectual and thoughtful entries, but it seems like i have so many different things running through my head lately that i cant figure out how i want to get them all out on here. hopefully theyll start coming soon and ill be able to entertain you guys with more than just entries like "OMGZZ AND HE LYK SAID THIS" or "so today i went here and then talked to them and then did this."
yeahhhh. i guess im gonna try to get some sleep. more later! <3
These past 5 days have been the best and the most exciting days ive had in a longgggg time.
So many strange things have happened, ive seen so many people that i missed so much, and talked to some other really random ones. im happy right now. i mean REALLY happy.
but it's a strange sort of feeling... everyones been leaving posts about going away to college, leaving home, making new friends. but after summer term, i feel like ive been there, done that, and cant wait to try it some more. I know my way all around campus, i met some amazing people and got close to others i havent seen in years, and had an amazing time. and that was just the beginning.
The last week before everyone starts going off to school has been just as i thought it would be: everyone realizing that there ARE no more chances to change plans, to blow people off, to reschedule. this is it. the final goodbyes and the last hangouts before we spread out all over the country. There are alot of people that im really going to miss, but i know that if i care about them enough and if they care enough about me, we'll make an effort to see each other when we all come home.
I feel really complete, like i found a little more of myself this summer, but there is still so much that i dont know about me that i cant wait to find out in the next part of my life. There are little holes here and there that are needed to complete my happiness (like a love life, perhaps?) but for the most part theres nothing i would change about my life right now.
So to everyone that helped in making me the person that i am right now... thank you and i love you :]
WOWWWWW this summer is going by so quickly!! it doesn't feel like i've already been up in gainesville for 5 weeks but ive done SO many things, met so many cool new people, and absolutely LOVE college already... and its only summer term!
I can't wait to start fall in 2 weeks :]
SO lately ive been mostly hanging out with carling and my roomie stacey, went to the FFTS/NHD show which was awesomeee and got to hang out with the guys so that always makes me happy, doing some school work, and basically having the time of my LIFE! :D
Tonight was the opening/cast after party with kim and it was amazingggg and singin in the rain was SO SO good! ahh <3
I get to go make fun of the band geeks tomorrow with christiana :] i cant wait... then cheering up sarah and big dinner out with the crew! busy busy busy.
HJVKDHFVDIUDSHDS%^##$(*%(&%#!!!!! just found: The Nintendo Fusion Tour this fall will feature Hawthorne Heights along with Relient K, Emory, Plain White T's and The Sleeping.
I mean, whats not to love? Theyre spontaneous, theyre always positive, and they can change a not-so-great or an "okay" day or experience into a better one.
My parents came up to visit me yesterday and i showed them around campus some, told them all about whats been going on, took them to the dining hall to experience my everyday food, and then we needed something to do so we went to the Museum of Natural Sciences. There we were, on the way and i was thinking "oh my goodness this is going to be so boring but my parents want to go so that's cool, it might be pretty neat..." not too excited about it. We get there and get tickets for the butterfly exhibit, which was a HUGEEEEEE outdoor screened in habitat for hundreds of butterflies. I was wondering how a bunch of butterflies flying around could possibly be too insanely exciting, but then we got inside... it was AMAZING. hundreds and hundreds of all different colors, sizes, and shapes of butterflies flying all over everywhere, landing on your shoulder or your head or on the plants infront of you. We ended up spending about an hour and 1/2 and almost to the time the museum closed inside of the butterfly exhibit, looking at all of the different types and talking to one of the museum specialists (more about bluegrass than the butterflies lol) But all in all, it was an awesome experience and i cant WAIT to go back :]
THEN later we went to see the bats. Theres a huge bathouse on campus that they built to hold the bats, and everynight at dusks all 6,000 bats fly out to go hunt mosquitos and food. When we got there a GIANT hawk was sitting on the fence, and it ate 2 of the bats that tried to come out! Crazyyyyy.
PS. i need to stop spending money haha....
******IM COMING HOME ON THE 4TH!****** i expect lots of plans to be made :] :]
the age i was when i graduated. the age i was when i got into UF. the age i was when i lived up my senior year and had the best friends a girl could ask for. the age i was when i went to HHH for the first time. the age i was when i went to the most amazing show of my life.
no lie, the most AMAZING year of my life. and it's over in 5 minutes...
i'd love to stay seventeen forever, but i have a feeling that being eighteen is going to be just as good, and maybe even BETTER. i guess i'll find out :]
<33

SOOO i did my speech today! i wasnt nervous at all up at the front of the room and i made everyone laugh and i realized that i'm VERY animated when im infront of an audience. it was actually fun :] strange, huh?
I've decided that i really really REALLY like my class Exceptional People in School and Society. it deals with people with ALL different types of disorders and disabilities and i definitely recommend it to anyone looking for classes to take! i actually look forward to getting up and going to class, something thats NEVER happened before (ok well maybe its because the class is my first of the day and doesnt start until 12:30 but STILL) :] and we have to do 10 hours of community service for it so Nikki and i are going to the local orphanage and helping out with the kids! i cant wait.
I want a dog so bad!! its gotten to where i cant stop thinking about it. but i have to wait for a whole year so i can move into an apartment and get a cute little puppy :] im not sure what kind i want yet, but definitely a breed thats gonna stay small forever even when its full grown. im thinking either a cairn or norwich terrier? theyre so cute :D i dont know i have to keep looking!
hmmmm im tired and i have lots to do before i come home tomorrow!! yay i want to see LOTS of people!
did you guys all watch the world cup final yesterday? because if you did, then you DEFINITELY know what im talking about when i say that this was one of the craziest things ive seen a player (the captain nonetheless) do to another player on the field...
